At Silentnight, we believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to our continued success and are central to the way we work. As the business responsible for the people and operations behind premierinnathome.com, we are pleased to share our Gender Pay Gap Report for 2024.
Our Commitment
Founded in 1946, Silentnight employs over 700 people in the UK. We are proud of the diverse and talented workforce behind our operations and are committed to ensuring that every employee has equal access to opportunity, progression and reward.
We support full pay equity across all areas of our business. We welcome the transparency and accountability driven by the Gender Pay Gap Reporting Regulations and use this data to continue improving our inclusion strategy.
This report complies with the Gender Pay Gap Information Regulations 2017 and covers the snapshot date of 5 April 2024 (for the reporting period of 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024).
Understanding the Gender Pay Gap
The gender pay gap reflects the difference in average pay between men and women across the entire workforce and is expressed as a percentage. It is not the same as equal pay, which relates to paying men and women the same for doing the same or similar work.
We calculate six key figures as required by legislation, including both mean and median hourly pay gaps, and the proportion of men and women in each pay quartile.
Gender Pay Gap Results
Mean gender pay gap
: -2.1%
(An improvement from -3.5% in 2023)
Median gender pay gap
:
0.0%
(Improved from -1.7% in 2023)
These figures demonstrate that on average, women at Silentnight earn slightly more than men, with no gap at the median level. This reflects our commitment to pay equity and balanced opportunity.
Pay Quartile Distribution
We’ve divided our workforce into four equal pay quartiles based on salary, showing the percentage of male and female employees in each:
Quartile | Male % | Female % |
Lower | 68.4% | 31.6% |
Lower Middle | 76.3% | 23.7% |
Upper Middle | 81.2% | 18.8% |
Upper | 72.3% | 27.7% |
Our overall workforce is 74.5% male and 25.5% female. The representation of women across all pay levels reflects a broadly consistent distribution aligned with this demographic.
Our Ongoing Actions
While our gender pay gap is minimal and improving, we continue to prioritise actions that support a more balanced workforce at every level. Our focus includes:
Ensuring inclusive recruitment and promotion processes
Actively encouraging female candidates for senior roles
Providing leadership development opportunities to support internal progression
Maintaining equitable pay structures and performance-based reward
We remain committed to closing any identified gaps and will continue to report our progress annually.
Confirmatory Statement
I confirm that the information in this report is accurate and has been calculated in accordance with the relevant regulations.
